The Interview

When did you know that you wanted to become an author?

“I guess I’ve always wanted to write a book. I never imagined it would be my profession.”

Which authors inspire you?

“Many authors. I love thrillers. John Grisham brought me back to reading when my children were young. I adore JR Ward and Greg Isles.”

So, Book 5 in the Infidelity Series (the latest series) released on January 17, 2017, how have readers responded and will they find closure?

“The response has been tremendously positive. I’m overwhelmed by the magnitude of support and positive reviews. I couldn’t be happier.”

Which character in the Infidelity Series are you most connected to and why?

“I love all the characters. I have had so much fun writing Nox and Charli. They are both so strong. Their banter makes me smile as I write. However, I’m 51 years old. I fell in love with Oren and Adelaide. I originally show them only through their children’s POV. Then I begin introducing their own. I love the contrast. Children have a skewed concept of their parents, especially when those parents haven’t shared their struggles. I adore Oren and Adelaide.”

Now that the Infidelity Series is complete, have you started on a new project?

“I haven’t. I’m in mourning. I miss Infidelity. I am also exhausted and burnt out. This four month release schedule for full-length (~40+ chapters per book) thoroughly edited and professionally formatted books has taken a toll. Readers want more and faster. I truly don’t think they realize the psychological toll it takes to create and perfect and release. I’m tired.”

Do you ever envision certain actors/actresses to bring your characters to life? If yes, who do you feel would have the passion to portray Nox and Charli?

“While I would love that to happen, I don’t have specific actors or actresses in mind. I would thoroughly enjoy helping to cast Infidelity.”

How do think you’ve evolved creatively from your debut novel until now?

“By leaps and bounds. I will always love Consequences and Tony and Claire. They are my first, but despite the adoration readers feel for those books, their quality is NOTHING like that of my more recent works. I have learned so much over the last five years. I hope it shows.”

Have you ever struggled with how you wanted a storyline to go? For example, you wrote something one way and then changed it to something different?

“Yes! The struggle is real. I am a pantser and allow my characters the liberty of telling me the story. Often they surprise me.”

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

“Write what you love. Have a passion for your story. If you have passion and it evokes emotion in you, it will in others. Don’t cater to the tropes or the market. Find your niche and do your best. Above all, invest in your product. NO one can edit their own work. Hire an editor. Make sure they are good. I’ve made that mistake. A quality finished product is worth the investment. Be proud of your finished work.”

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

“Read, sleep, and enjoy the sun. My husband and I enjoy time with our children and family and also enjoy traveling.”

Finally, do you have a personal message for your fans?

“Thank you, a million times, thank you. I’m still amazed and stunned that anyone besides my mom, well, that’s not even true. My mom hasn’t read anything since the Consequences series…so it stuns me that there are others who want to read and enjoy my work. I’m eternally grateful. Thank you!!!! Please be patient. Don’t give up. I’ll be back.” <3
