This story picks up where Cunning left off. Nox and Charli are falling in love and it is getting intense! Nox has secrets that he is not ready to share and so does Charli. This 3rd book added Oren’s point of view, which was a welcomed twist. There is a lot going on, but, that’s what makes this series great! When Nox finally tells Charli his secret, I felt a sense of relief. Relief for their love and for someone to finally tell him that it wasn’t his fault. The connection between Oren and Laddie was a surprise and I did not expect it simply because Laddie’s upbringing was so strict and she always follows the rules. This was behavior unbecoming of a Montague lady.
Charli finally hears from Chelsea and now she must return to Savannah to see about her mother, while there, Alton forces Charli to go back to Montague Manor with him or never see her mother again. She is now being held against her will and has no choice but to go along with Alton’s orders. Nox is livid when he finds out and is coming undone. Alton has banned, Nox, his father, and his entire security team from Montague Manor. Charli is a prisoner in her own home and her only true friend is her former nanny Jane.
The Good:
This book was full of twists and turns. It kept me guessing, which I loved. I am very caught up in the scandal of this read.

The Bad:
The abuse that Charli is enduring is heart wrenching. Those parts make me very emotional. Although it is written well, it is still a shock when she has encounters with Alton.

The Ugly:
Unlike the prior 2 reads, this one added another POV which, can work, but, it was at times exhausting. A series that draws you in like this can get nerve wrecking when you want questions answered.

Worth the Read?
This story is getting intense and the more things are revealed, the more I am intrigued. Betrayal, lies, deceit, abuse… this story has it all and more. Aleatha has brought these characters to life in a way that is captivating. I am looking forward to listening to the next book in this series. Solid 5 Star Read!
