The Interview
At what moment did you know you wanted to be an Author?
Honestly, I never thought about being an author until 2012 when I started writing my first book. I’ve always been an avid reader, but it wasn’t until I had an idea for a book and tried to talk my friend and fellow indie-author, Nicole Reed, into writing it, and she insisted that I sit down and write instead.
Is it difficult to write steamy love scenes? And, what is your mindset when you create them?
Sex scenes are one of the hardest parts of writing to me, mostly trying to make each one different than the last. Let’s face it, there are only so many ways it can happen and so many words to describe it. I have to be alone when I write one, and I usually try to relax with a glass of wine and some mood music.
Have you ever imagined any of your books made into a movie? And what actress and actor would play the lead role?
I think every author imagines this at some point; it’s the ultimate reward—seeing the story in your head, the words you’ve written, come to life on a screen in front of you. Since I have 19 published books, I’ve got lots of actors and actresses I’d love to see cast for my different characters.
What is most important, character development or plot? Which do you focus on first?
I don’t think you can have one without the other, but the plot comes first. The storyline is what dictates how your characters develop throughout the book.
What do you like to do when you’re not in the cave writing?
Reading, of course, but my other hobbies include playing board games or cards, watching sports, and hanging out by the pool with family and friends.
If you could’ve been told one thing as a teenager, that you weren’t told, what would that be?
Focus on the things you can change; don’t waste time on things you can’t.
Do you believe in love/lust at first sight?
Yes, absolutely. When you know, you know.
What is your life motto?
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and take whatever comes.
If you wrote a book about your life, what would the title be?
Let It Be
Wine or Liquor?
-wine
Eat the cake or save the calories?
I’m a weirdo who doesn’t like many sweets, so save the calories.
What do you want readers to experience when they read your work?
I hope to make them think outside the box about love. It doesn’t always come perfectly wrapped with a big bow.
Do you have difficulty writing Blurbs/Teasers?
Oh my God, yes. I hate it.
Finally, what message do you have for your readers?
Thank you for the love and support. Never give up on your dreams. And always be true to yourself.
