Wolfe Keaton, a US Senator hell bent on revenge. He is ruthless in his pursuit to bring closure to his life. He had it all planned and he did not care who he hurt to exact revenge. He took her and made her his prisoner. He watched her and he did everything to keep his heart in check. She surprised him with her spirit, she mesmerized him with her strong will, and little did he know that even though he stole her first kiss, she in turn stole his heart.
The Good: This book was so good! It had several extremes when it came to emotions and normally that would be a turn off, however LJ Shen made it work beautifully.
The Bad: Wolfe Keaton was a straight asshole! He did some questionable things, and this read is not for the faint at heart.
The Ugly: Ok, I’m on the fence about the scene when they finally “consummated” their relationship. Also, his treatment of Francesca is reprehensible.
Worth the Read? Let me start by saying that I have read LJ Shen before and I have come to love her style of writing. One may not agree with how the females are treated, but her writing is solid and leaves nothing to the imagination. There is no rhyme to the reason of how Wolfe is treating Francesca the way he is because his issue is with her Father.
There are several cringe worthy moments in this read and I enjoyed each one. I experienced so many emotions that I found myself not wanting to stop listening. I wanted even more. Francesca was weak, but there was a strength about her that made you root for her. I normally hate weak women in a book and there were moments that had me yelling as I listened.
There were also a few incidents that could’ve been resolved sooner if only she would’ve spoken her mind. Overall, this was an amazing, well written read that is not for sensitive readers. The situations in this book will take you to the brink of insanity, but in the end, you have to know that this is a story of what ifs and not reality. A Solid 5 Star Read!!
