Elizabeth Fitch aka Abigail Lowery was raised by a Mother that controlled every aspect of her life. From the time she woke up until she went to sleep, every minute was planned. She had enough! She wanted freedom and normalcy. She wanted to do what other girls do. Shopping, parties…just hanging out. She decides to just go for it and gets much more than she bargained for. Brooks Gleason wants to get to know the stranger who stays to herself and doesn’t talk to anyone. She lives on the outskirts of town and she holds many secrets. He is determined to weave his way into her life and show her that life is more than short trips into town with your head down and covered so that no one notices you. Being the Police Chief, his interest is peaked, and he wants to see what makes the stranger tick. What he did not count on was finding out that not only does she have secrets, she is also the most beautiful woman he has ever seen.

The Good:
I’ve always loved Nora Roberts. She never disappoints in twisting an intriguing tale of mystery, suspense, and love. This went above my imagination.

The Bad:
It’s hard to put it into words without giving spoilers, but I will say her Mother should be ashamed of herself.

The Ugly:
The dealings of the Russian Mafia are not pretty. I was literally scared for her while listening to this read.

Worth the Read?
Full of suspense, love, and heightened emotions. This book took me on such an adventure while listening. I held my breath during the suspense, curious during the mystery, laughing during the subtle hints of comedy, and finally, I was giddy when love bloomed. This “listen” kept me enraptured. It had everything I needed to be caught up in this tale.

The heroine was not ordinary or typical. She was beautiful yet smart…recluse but, feisty and able to defend herself. She was a thinker and a creator, yet she was sexy and giving of herself when she finally let down her walls. Brooks was simply amazing. Patient, kind, and truly an Alpha who did not take no for an answer.

He wanted to help her and be on the front lines with her. Confronting her past demons and willing to fight alongside her. He loved her….no questions, no doubts, no hang ups…. true love plain and simple.

The Narrator brought such life to this story. It was easy to listen and follow. I sometimes forgot that this was fiction. Thank you so much Nora for once again giving me a journey that was exciting, twisty, and simply brilliant. Solid 5 Stars!
