Ana finds that she can’t handle Christian’s (tastes). He showed her exactly how far he wants to go in “punishing” her and even though she asks for it, she is left in tears and realizes just how sick and twisted Christian is. She breaks off their “relationship” and starts focusing on her new career at a publishing house in Seattle. She still wants him and she is overwhelmed with thoughts of him.
Christian is miserable without her. He’s never felt this way, but, there’s something about Ana and he can’t go on without her. He was her to be his. He wants her to be his submissive. He doesn’t know any other way. When she walked out, he thought he’d lost her forever. He told her that he was Fifty Shades of fucked up and that his past made him who he is. He doesn’t understand why Ana is different from the others, but, he wants to find out.
The Good:
E.L. expanded on Christian’s past and showed us what shaped him. She didn’t make their breakup some long drawn out sob fest. That was a welcomed change from the norm.

The Bad:
Christian’s past comes back and wreaks havoc on his new life with Ana.

The Ugly:
Ana’s boss is slimy and an all-around asshole. I couldn’t imagine dealing with someone like that daily.

Worth the Read?
Christian and Ana give their relationship another chance. He makes some suggestions and promises to try harder to be the man that Ana needs. Christian is forced to start dealing with his past. He does go to counseling, but, now the game has changed with Ana being in his life. Ana knows that there were women before her, who accepted Christian’s lifestyle. They embraced being a submissive, but she wants more. She does enjoy what they do in his playroom, but, she feels they can do that and have a more traditional relationship. They face many challenges and feel they are ready to take the next step. Danger is lurking and is closer than they think. Their lives are in danger, but, Ana wants to stay by his side and rescue him from his past. I loved this deeper look into Christian’s past. It answered many questions and brought in some twists that make this a page turner! Solid 4 ½ Stars!!!
